Myrtia, Skiathos

A small, family-run hotel situated in attractive surroundings, the 3-star Myrtia Summer Village is a great choice for families or couples. The complex is in a secluded location, ideal for a relaxing break. It consists of several picturesque white-washed buildings with idiosyncratic Mediterranean charm, surrounded by lush vegetation, gardens and olive trees. The good-sized turquoise swimming pool and surrounding terraces is a real sun-trap, while a shady poolside bar provides refreshments and respite from the sun when needed. Rooms are simple and comfortable, with excellent self-catering facilities.

 

The hotel is located in Koukounaries; the last stop on the bus route on the small Greek island of Skiathos. Koukounaries is a sleepy town with a laidback atmosphere – if you are looking for a lively hedonistic holiday, this probably isn’t the town for you. What Koukounaries does boast is plenty of traditional Greek charm, fantastic restaurants and some of the best beaches on the island. Both Koukounaries Beach and Banana Beach are within 20 minutes’ walk of the hotel. The resort centre of Koukounaries is just 300m away from the complex. You can enjoy the bars and restaurants here, or stroll along the 1km long seafront and try the tavernas and restaurants that look out across the sea. Skiathos Town is larger, livelier and only a bus ride away for those who fancy a more robust evening out. Skiathos airport is 16km away.

 

Accommodation at the Myrtia Summer Village consists of 46 apartments set in attractive Mediterranean style buildings. Rooms are basic but comfortable. Studios sleep either 1-2 or 2-3 people and come with 2 or 3 beds. Duplex maisonettes and 1 bedroom apartments sleeping 2-4 people are also available – these are similar to studios but come with an open-plan gallery with additional beds or a separate double bedroom. Studios for sole occupancy can also be booked.  All come with a kitchenette with 2 hobs, kettle, toaster and fridge, bathroom with WC and balcony or terrace.

 

The centrepiece of the hotel is arguably the attractive rectangular outdoor pool with adjoining children’s section. This is surrounded by sun terraces and overlooked by a poolside bar, where snacks and refreshments are served. A popular on-site restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Active guests will enjoy the multi-sports court, where tennis or volleyball can be played. There is regular evening entertainment put on, including a quiz night and a Greek BBQ night. Other facilities include a lounge bar with satellite TV, table tennis, and internet access.
