Tenerife, although part of Spain, is located just off the coast of Africa in the Canary Islands. As the largest of seven islands it is also the most populated accounting for nearly 50% of the all inhabitants of the islands. Year round the temperatures are fairly consistent with winters around 22 degrees and summers around 28 degrees because, although it is on a similar latitude to the Sahara Desert, as an island it benefits from trade winds coming in off the Atlantic.
