Mexico Holidays

Mexico Holidays
A holiday in Mexico offers a range of contrasts from desert landscapes, snow-topped volcanoes, ancient ruins, tropical jungles, busy cities and gently fading colonial towns to excellent holiday resorts and deserted beaches. There are Mexico holidays for eco-tourists, couples, honeymooners and families, as well as adults-only resorts. It is one of the few package holiday destinations where the visitor can find lively holiday resorts combined with beauty and nature. Even the very liveliest resorts, such as Cancun, are only a few miles away from romantic, tranquil locations with opportunities to swim with dolphins or ride a horse along the beach.

Holidays In Mexico – Modern resorts, ancient cultures
Although it’s an ideal winter sun destination, a holiday in Mexico could be enjoyed at any time. May to October is regarded as the rainy season, but there is still plenty of sun even then. The main beach areas tend to be the Caribbean destinations on the Yucatan Peninsula, along the Riviera Maya, such as Playa Paraiso (Paradise Beach), Playacar, Playa del Carmen, Punta Brava and Puerta Aventuras, or the Pacific coast destinations, such as Puerto Vallarta and further south in Oaxaca, Huatulco, with its wide choice of un-spoilt beaches. Mexico holidays offer plenty of activities from watersports and sea fishing, tennis, golf (Puerto Vallarta has a PGA Championship course) to jungle exploration, volcano climbing and visits to archeological sites. The Yucatan Peninsula’s sites include the Mayan temples at Chichen Itza, while reminders of ancient cultures can also be found in Oaxaca and descendants of the Aztecs still live above Puerto Vallarta.

Mexico Holidays – Plenty to see and do for everyone
The choice of rooms is as varied as the choice of locations, with anything from luxury hotels with spas, hotels with kids clubs, boutique hotels, gated communities and colonial mansions to small apartments. Most hotels offer entertainment and resorts generally have a good variety of bars, restaurants and live music venues with jazz, salsa and, of course, mariachi bands. Look out also for Carnival and other celebrations. Mexican menus may include familiar names such as tortilla and guacamole but the food bears little resemblance to that in most Mexican restaurants at home, but anyone who enjoys colour, variety and intense flavours will be in for a treat. Of course, the seafood at coastal resorts is usually superb. But don’t forget to leave room for an ice-cold margarita as the sun goes down.
