Maria Anna Hotel, Greece

Boasting a lofty position on a pretty hillside in Lourdas, the 2-star Maria Anna Hotel affords spectacular panoramic views down to the sea way below. Guests staying on one side of the hotel will have excellent sea views; those staying on the other enjoy prime views of Kefalonia’s highest mountain. The hotel itself is a cosy, intimate, family-run affair, offering traditional Greek charm. Guests frequently praise the warm, friendly welcome by staff and excellent service during their stay. Location-wise, the hotel is within walking distance of 3 different beaches, close to the resort centre and provides easy access to a great range of the island’s sights and attractions. Rooms are simple but clean. Essentially this complex makes a fantastic base for exploring what is arguably the most beautiful of the Greek Islands.

 

The Maria Anna is located on a steep hillside in the sleepy resort of Lourdas on Kefalonia. Due to its elevated position the hotel is not ideal for those with walking difficulties. Lourdas is a quiet, peaceful town with an authentic Greek-village feel and pace to match. Nightlife here is low-key, but there are a good range of bars, restaurants and tavernas to enjoy. There is a beach directly down the hillside from the hotel, accessible via the steep, winding hill-side road. There are 2 more beaches within a 20 minute walk of the complex also. The island boasts a huge range of secluded beaches, sandy coves, dramatic caves and stunning lagoons to explore, and with the island being fairly small, all are within easy reach.  

 

Accommodation at the complex consists of 20 clean and comfortable apartments set across 3 floors. Standard rooms sleeping 1-2 people come with twin beds, and Double rooms sleeping 1-3 people come with a double bed and extra single bed. All rooms come with air conditioning, private bathroom with WC and balcony or terrace with sea or inland view.

 

The Maria Anna Hotel provides a good range of basic facilities in a stunning location. A good sized pool and surrounding sun terraces looks out from a bird’s nest-like position across the sea, and offers some breath-taking views. There is a poolside bar providing snacks and refreshments throughout the day. A lounge and breakfast area offers respite from the sun and is where guests will be offered breakfast in the mornings. The hotel does not have an on-site restaurant; however its close proximity to the cafes and restaurants of Lourdas means a huge wealth of fantastic Mediterranean cuisine is on hand. The hotel also puts on a weekly BBQ night.

Board: Breakfast is provided daily in the hotel’s breakfast lounge, however the absence of an on-site dining venue means guests take meals at the restaurants and taverns found in town.
