St Julians Things To Do

Malta is rich in history. Cultural and historical excursions focus on Norman churches, imposing castles, pretty vineyards, glass workshops and key sites related to the Knights of Malta. St Julians excursions typically feature the fabulous medieval walled town of Mdina and Malta beauty spots like the Blue Grotto, the Dingli Cliffs and the picturesque village of Ta Qali. Boat trips around Valletta’s Grand Harbour are worthwhile. Visit the enchanting smaller island of Gozo and explore its rugged coastline. Or head for the tiny island of Comino. You can even speed to Sicily to see Mount Etna!

 

Paceville has a reputation for the liveliest nightlife in Malta, attracting a predominantly younger crowd to its restaurants, bars, discos and clubs. Several venues are open until very late. Try your luck at the elegant Dragonara Casino, which also has a good restaurant. Flower-decked restaurants on St Julian's Bay are picturesque. Seafront restaurants at Spinola enjoy fine views. Grand Harbour has charming cafes, restaurants and shops. Climb to Valletta Old Town with its pretty streets and commanding forts. Horse-drawn carriages and taxis will assist those not wishing to make the climb on foot! Take in key Valletta sights like the Palace of the Grand Masters and St. John's Co-Cathedral. Upper Barracca Gardens boasts excellent views over Valletta Harbour. For shopping, head for Republic Street and Merchant Street Market.

 

Exceptionally warm water and long days of uninterrupted sunshine make St Julians a water sports paradise. Banana boat rides, jet-skiing, canoeing, kitesurfing, water skiing, paragliding, wave sailing and windsurfing are all popular. Summer breezes are ideal for gentle sailing. Malta offers excellent conditions for snorkelling and scuba diving. The island is an excellent place to learn to dive. Caves, coral reefs and wrecks will satisfy more experienced divers. There are plenty of professionally run courses for all levels. Sailing boats make excursions along the rugged coastline. Children will enjoy the Mediterraneo and Splash and Fun water parks.

 

Malta offers excellent walking and hiking in dramatic scenery. Spring and autumn weather are ideal for relaxed walking trips and more serious hikes. The Maltese interior boasts ancient trails, historical sites, traditional villages and varied landscapes. There are excellent cliff walks on the coast. Superb Malta weather means year-round golf. Horse riding, swimming with dolphins and jeep safaris are also popular.
