Beaches
Gzira provides very easy access to some of Malta’s well known beaches and sunbathing areas. The popular resort of Sliema is within walking distance and boasts golden sands and rocky beach areas between Sliema and St Julian’s. With the all year round hot weather the beaches and hotel pools will be the place to spend the days in Gzira.
Water Sports
Water sports in Gzira and along the coastal route can include boating, fishing, surfing, water-skiing and kayaking. Scuba diving in Gzira can be easily arranged via the dive centre at nearby Sliema, and dives can include cave and reef diving not to mention the many WWII wrecks that sank around Malta.
Boat Trips
Chartered boat trips from Gzira are the best way to view the amazing coastline of Malta and the neighbouring islands of Gozo and Comino. Ferries leave Cirkewwa in Malta every 45 minutes and the journey time to Gozo takes a mere 25 minutes. Gozo is well regarded as one of the best diving spots in the Mediterranean and Ramla Beach is also considered one of the finest Maltese beaches.
Sports
The climate in Malta makes golf an all year round sport and there is a spectacular 18-hole golf course available in Marsa. Other sports available in Gzira include tennis, volleyball, cycling, squash and horse riding.
Sightseeing
Sightseeing activities from Gzira can include Malta’s beautiful capital city of Valetta. Valetta is a World Heritage site and has been described as an open air museum.
