Holidays to Comino

Comino Holidays – The perfect chill-out

The tiny island of Comino lies in crystal clear azure sea between the main island of Malta and Gozo. Just 2.5km long, Comino has no real roads, a resident population of four, and just one hotel and a cluster of self-catering bungalows. A Comino holiday is a real get-away-from-it-all!

Comino is also home to Malta’s favourite swimming spot, the sparkling Blue Lagoon surrounded by caves. Day trippers from Malta and Gozo arrive in considerable numbers by mid-morning in summer to enjoy this beautiful natural feature, but only those who stay on Comino get to swim here in peace at the start and end of the day.

Comino is the perfect place to chill out – to swim, snorkel, dive or just lie in the sun with a book. Both the hotel and bungalows have swimming pools and cater for families as well as couples. Many people return year after year.

When to go to Comino

The Comino hotel and bungalows are open from April to October. The island is very quiet at the start and end of this season, getting busy – relatively speaking – in July and August when families arrive for the school holidays. April can be fresh and beautiful but both air and sea really warm up in May and June. The water stays warm throughout October.

The weather in Comino

Comino has a lovely climate. Summers are very sunny, hot and dry with average daytime highs well above twenty from May to October and rising to 30ºC in July and August. Even April has an average high of 19ºC. July and August offer some eleven hours a day of sunshine and rarely see rain (an average of one day ‘with some rain’ in two months!) and it is generally dry and sunny from at least May to September.

There are flights from Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Bristol, Leeds-Bradford, Edinburgh and East Midlands Airport.

From here it is under an hour’s drive to Cirkewwa where you pick up the little boat to Comino run by the Comino Hotel and Bungalows.
