Malta Holidays

Malta Holidays - A popular year-round destination
The sunny island of Malta is a popular year-round destination for holidaymakers from the UK, attracted by its’ wonderful climate, picturesque fishing villages and, of course, the ever-present British connection. Maltas’ position in the Mediterranean, just south of Sicily and north of the coast of Africa, means its’ shores receive wonderful sunshine all year round, and has helped to create a richly diverse culture on the island. Its’ 7000 year history has seen conquests by the Phoenicians, Byzantines, Arabs, Romans, and most famously, the Knights of the Order of St. John, resulting in a island full of fascinating traditions, cultures, architecture and cuisine.

Holidays in Malta – An ideal destination for families and couples
A small island, just 30 km from one end to the other, Malta is home to many coastal resorts, with the main tourist areas found in the north. St. Paul’s Bay is the most popular destination for holidaymakers, with the area around this original fishing village now heavily developed, and the resorts of Bugibba and Qawra offering a huge amount of accommodation and tourist facilities. Although the coastline is primarily rocky, there are plenty of opportunities for sunbathing, swimming, and water-sports here on the north coast, with many visiting the many beach clubs and lidos in the resorts. Resorts such as Mellieha and Golden Bay offer popular sandy beaches. On the east coast, the main resorts are Sliema and St. Julian’s, both extremely popular and linked by a seafront promenade. Sliema is more upmarket, with chic waterfront cafes and bars, whilst St. Julian’s offers perhaps the best nightlife on Malta, and a huge choice of hotels and apartments. In the south of Malta, the main resort is Marsascala, a colourful elegant resort, popular with the locals.

Malta Holidays – An island rich in history and culture
Whilst visiting Malta, the island offers a wealth of activities including golf, tennis, cycling, paragliding and hiking. It is a favourite destination for scuba-divers, and the beach and coastal resorts offer plenty of watersports, with yachting and sailing extremely popular. The capital city, Valletta, with its’ 16th century walls, is a must-see, and there are some highly recommended boat trips to take around the island. As well as the extraordinary amount of museums, galleries and monuments in Valletta, the whole of Malta is home to fascinating historical churches and castles, and amazing preserved temples.
