The 3-star Luna Holiday complex is an excellent value-for-money hotel offering basic but comfortable accommodation in a great location in Mellieha. The beach is a leisurely stroll away, and a bus stop outside the hotel takes guests into Mellieha town centre for those who do not fancy the uphill walk. The hotel itself is medium-sized, with two freshwater swimming pools, a popular restaurant offering a buffet and a la carte menu, 2 bars and regular evening entertainment put on. Rooms are simple but fairly spacious and come with good self-catering facilities; ideal for those looking to save money on their holiday. All in all this hotel is a great choice for those after a low cost base from which to explore this beautiful part of Malta.

 

The location of the Luna Holiday Complex is a feature of the hotel that is regularly praised in reviews. It is situated close to the main road leading to Mellieha Beach and Mellieha town centre. Arguably the best beach on Malta, Mellieha Beach is just 350m from the hotel and boasts clean white sands, sparkling waters and a host of watersports to try. Mellieha town is an attractive village atop a hill, with a main road that winds down the hillside to the beach. The hotel is at the foot of this hill, so less mobile guests will appreciate the bus stop outside the complex which runs a service into town. Numerous bat trips can be booked from the picturesque marina nearby, including trips to the islands of Gozo and Comino as well as the Blue Lagoon. For a small fee you can also catch the bus to the island’s capital, Valetta.

 

Accommodation at the hotel consists of 158 clean and comfortable studios and apartments. Standard studios sleep 1-3 people and come with twin beds and a sofa bed. Superior studios sleep 1-2 people and are larger, with twin beds and sofa bed. One bedroom apartments sleep 1-4 people and come with a separate twin bedroom as well as a living area with double bed. Two bedroom apartments sleeping 1-5 have two twin bedrooms and a living area with additional sofa bed. All rooms come with kitchenette with oven, 2 hobs, fridge and kettle, ceiling fan, telephone, safety deposit box shower room with WC and balcony or terrace. Superior studios also come with satellite TV, air conditioning and a bath.

The Luna Holiday Complex offers a good selection of facilities for guests. There are two swimming pools here; the ground-floor one with adjoining Jacuzzi is great for early-risers who like to enjoy the less intense morning sun, while the rooftop pool catches the sun all day long. There is an onsite restaurant that offers an a la carte and buffet menu. There is a poolside bar next to the rooftop pool affording great views across the bay, and a larger lounge bar area that also serves snacks. A games room with a pool table and video games will keep the kids entertained, and the hotel puts on regular evening entertainment with live music, shows and karaoke nights. For those self-catering, there is a handy on-site supermarket. Other useful facilities include a 24-hour reception, fitness room, laundry service, currency exchange and internet access.
