Montone Weather

The medieval town of Montone lies close to Perugia, Anghiari and Cortona in northern Umbria, and enjoys an idyllic location on a hilltop overlooking the River Tiber. Like other towns in the region, Montone experiences a mild Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and colder winters, and enjoys an average annual temperature of 18C.

 

Visitors on a holiday in Montone are attracted by the rural countryside and peaceful atmosphere, and the mild climate creates ideal conditions for exploring and sightseeing. Spring days are warm, and with April and May seeing highs of 17C - 22C, and between 6 - 8 hours of sunshine, this season is perfect for those who don't like extremely hot weather. June sees the days heat up, with highs of 26C, and the peak season months of July and August reaching 29C. There is plenty of glorious sunshine, at least 9 - 10 hours each day, and despite the heat, the humidity levels remain moderate. These hotter days are ideal for relaxing in the farmhouses and villas of the area, enjoying the scenery and indulging in morning and late-afternoon activities, or watching films during the annual Film Festival in the piazza. Rainfall remains fairly constant during the year, with spring seeing 60mm - 70mm, and the summer months receiving 40mm - 50mm.         

 

Autumn is still a popular time to visit, with September and October experiencing highs of 25C and 19C respectively, and the town enjoying 5 - 7 hours of sunshine each day. Winter sees much colder weather, with temperatures between 8C - 13C, and January seeing the lowest temperatures of the season.
