Walking is the perfect way to soak up the sleepy atmosphere of beautifully preserved stone hamlets. Admire unspoilt landscapes celebrated for their green rolling hills, beautiful orchards, verdant forests, scenic vineyards, peaceful wheat fields and ancient olive groves. The area is dotted with gorgeous hilltop villages and hamlets. Cycling and horse riding are also popular. Explore independently, or join a guided tour, stopping off for lunch in a perfect piazza. For an easy stroll choose one of the trails along the shores of Lake Trasimeno.

Perfect for a hot summer’s day. A superb spot for fishing and relaxed swimming in remarkably warm water. For more active visitors the lake offers sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and waterskiing. Boat trips are refreshing in summer. Ferries run to tiny Isola Maggiore. Birdwatchers will find kingfishers and heron. There are plenty of easy walks along the lake shore. Then dine on the lake’s freshwater fish in one of the fine country restaurants on the water’s edge. Soak up the atmosphere of pretty towns like Città del Pieve and Panicale.
 
Perugia
A visit to the stylish regional capital is a must. This lively university city makes a nice contrast to sleepy Colle San Paolo. A busy cultural programme means plenty of concerts and festivals.
