The Leaning Tower
Pisa's most famous attraction and a true Italian icon, the Leaning Tower is one of the country's most visited sights. Located in the Campo dei Miracoli (the Square of Miracles), the Tower draws huge crowds, with visitors able to climb to the top and enjoy great views over the city.

Sights
The best way to experience Pisa is on foot, and the small city centre with its narrow medieval streets is easy to navigate. The historical attractions are also located around the square close to the Tower, with the city's main impressive sights including the stunning Duomo, the baptistery and the cemetery. Other attractions include the Botanical Gardens, Piazza Dei Cavalieri, the large open-air market and the Keith Haring mural.

River Arno
Flowing through the city, the banks of the River Arno are home to a number of bars and waterfront cafes, which fill up when the weather is warm, with all kinds of boat trips and scenic sunset cruises available. The river also plays host to various regattas during the summer.

Dining
There are plenty of places in this lively city to eat, with local trattorias and pizzerias on every street corner, as well as casual cafes and gourmet restaurants. Traditional Tuscan fare is widely available throughout Pisa, and there are plenty of places in which to enjoy a coffee, drink or ice-cream whilst touring the city.

Festivals
Festivals to enjoy in Pisa include the Luminara in June, the feast of the city's patron saint, when the city is lit by candlelight and there's a firework display, and Gioco del Ponte, also in June, when a huge historical procession parades the streets and there are traditional games and challenges.

Sports
From boating on the River Arno, a leisurely cycle around town or a scenic horseback ride in the hillsides, to swimming, tennis, badminton, golf, or a workout in a local gym or fitness centre, the city has a number of facilities for active guests.

Day Trips
Florence and Lucca are easily reached from Pisa, and there are regular train services to each city. Pistoia, Volterra and Viareggio are also good day trips.
