Trekking & Walking
Garfagnana is flanked by two mountain ranges, the Apennines and the Apuan Alps, and this stunning alpine scenery provides trekking trails for all abilities and preferences. The Monte Prado is situated in Garfagnana and is the highest mountain in Tuscany at 2054m.

Biking
Amateur cyclists and mountain biking enthusiasts will be delighted with the cycling opportunities in this beautiful and hidden area of Tuscany. From steep downhill free cycling to long, off road cross country rides, there are bike trails for all the family.

Kayaking & Water Sports
The dammed rivers of Garfagana create large flat expanses of water amid valleys and gorges. Home to beautiful blue herons, the lakes create a perfect venue for a wide range of water sports. Go to Pontecosi Lake, Valgli Lake and Lake Gramolazzo to try kayaking.

Food
Tuscan cuisine is renown throughout the world, and the local foods of the Garfagnana region are no exception. Porcini mushrooms, spelt, wild boar and chestnuts are some of the many tempting local specialities to enjoy during your holiday to Garfagnana.

History
Visit Bagni di Lucca, a town on the site of ancient thermal baths. The beautiful town of Borgo a Mozzano is close to the majestic and asymmetrical Ponte del Diavolo ('Bridge of the Devil') built in 1080-1100.

The hillsides of Garfagnana are packed with medieval villages clinging to the slopes and nestling in the lush valleys. Take a day trip to the hill towns of Vergamoli, Molazzana and Camporgiano. The Grotto del Vento (Wind Caves) is an exciting labyrinth of underground caves that is popular with visitors.
