Letojanni Weather

Situated on the eastern coast of Sicily, Letojanni is a charming coastal resort that enjoys typically southern Mediterranean weather with long, hot summers and mild winters. In fact, the island’s southerly position means that it’s blessed with more than 2,000 hours of sunshine each year. Midsummer is hot – average daily highs tend to be around 28°C in July and August, but the sirocco blowing from the Sahara can send temperatures soaring. However, the sun, the fabulous location and healthy climate make Letojanni holidays an ideal destination for those who like beach holidays, culture, history, activities, good food… in fact, just about anyone.

 

Temperatures in Letojanni tend to be a little more comfortable than those inland. Thanks to the sea breezes, its cooler when the temperature rises, and it’s a little warmer in the winter. Humidity seldom rises above moderate and temperatures drop in the evening, so even when the days heat up, it should be pleasantly cool at night. Summers are dry and there’s 10-11 hours of sunshine each day from June to August, and a high UV Index, so sun lovers should be careful to cover up or wear sunscreen. The sun warms the Ionian Sea too, with water temperatures reaching 26ºC in August.

 

Although not everything is open in winter, Letojanni still attracts visitors. Average temperatures reach 11ºC in January, the coldest month, and there’s around 4 hours of sunshine each day. Snow-capped Etna makes a spectacular background on a sunny day, and, if you like skiing, the slopes are open between December and March. Letojanni bursts into life in spring as the citrus orchards blossom, the vines grow and the flowers bloom. At 13ºC in March, 16ºC in April, it’s perfect for exploring or activities such as golf and hiking. Summer stays late in Letojanni, and September sees temperatures of around 25ºC, while the sea is a balmy 22ºC in October.
