Floridia Things To Do

The Town
With a rural charm, the traditional village, Floridia, is set inland and offers a taste of the real Sicily, whilst boasting a stunning wild landscape well off-the-beaten track, with good access to the tourist attractions of the east coast. There's plenty of Baroque architecture and churches to take in, and a great bar and restaurant scene in town.

Countryside
The lovely rural setting is ideal for exploring on foot, on horseback or by bike, especially during the early spring when the almond blossom is in bloom, with the olive and citrus groves creating a lush green landscape.  Floridia is an ideal place for walking holidays.

Beaches
Just a short drive leads to the sandy beaches of the southeast coast, such as Arenella and Fontane Bianche - both ideal for swimming and relaxed sunbathing.

Sports
Many of the local farmhouses and villas have swimming pools, with tennis and golf available, and water sports in the beach resorts.

Siracusa
The historic city of Siracusa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies close by and offers an interesting day out. There are plenty of sights on both the island of Ortygia, home to the Temple of Apollo and the Fountain of Arethusa, and the mainland, with its Greek theatre and Roman amphitheatre.

Dining
With the town home to a host of restaurants, bars, cafes and ice-cream parlours, visitors to Floridia can sample some of the island's finest cuisine. Sicily's food is predominantly Italian, with influences from Greece, Spain and North Africa, and features plenty of citrus, fish, almonds, tomatoes and olives.

Days Out
As well as visits to Siracusa, other trips include the Baroque town of Noto, the charming hilltop town of Ragusa, and the Spampinato caves.
