Neapolitan Riviera Things To Do
Visit the ancient city of Pompeii
A short drive from Naples leads to one of the most incredible archaeological sites in the world. Pompeii is a preserved Roman city that was wiped off the map when Mount Vesuvius exploded, burying the city in lava and ash. Now partially restored Pompeii offers a fascinating insight to the life of the Romans and is just one of hundreds of ancient sites found on the Neapolitan Riviera.
Discover an idyllic beach
The bay of Naples is blessed with some of the most scenic stretches of coast in Italy. Pretty towns line the shore both East and West of Naples, many of which date back to Roman times and have the ruins to prove it. Beaches range from tiny coves to golden expanses of sand so all you have to do is discover your perfect spot.
The Amalfi Coast
The 'road of a thousand bends' is perhaps the most iconic section of coast in all of Europe and is one of the many jewels in the crown of the Neapolitan Riviera. Linking a string of picture postcard towns once only accessible by boat, the road along the Amalfi coast is simply stunning, cutting through mountains that plunge into the blue sea, far below.
People watch in Sorrento
A pretty and fashionable resort, Sorrento has a lot to offer the day tripper. Although the beach is small, most people come here to shop for local goods including perfume and traditional artworks, eat seafood and gelato and simply wander around the port admiring the expensive looking yachts.
Go Island hopping
The bay of Naples is home to the islands of Capri, Procida and Ischia and a short ferry ride can transport you to these gorgeous destinations. Each island has its own distinct character with the shared benefits of stunning scenery, great beaches and small, pretty towns offering excellent shopping and dining.
Indulge your love of good food
Italian cuisine is famous all over the world and with a holiday on the Neapolitan Riviera you are spoilt for choice. Not only does the coastal location supply some fantastic seafood with squid and octopus a specialty but the humble pizza was born in Naples so it goes without saying that the locals make truly outstanding wood fired pizzas. Finish up with a creamy gelato and find yourself in food heaven.
