Countryside
The rural landscapes of Le Marche are idyllic, and the wooded region around Apecchio offers a host of walks and treks for those looking to explore the natural beauty of the area. From casual strolls through quiet hilltop towns, to day-long hikes along undulating valleys and through picturesque woodland, holidays in Apecchio offer a great taste of the stunning Italian countryside, with its picture-postcard views.
Sports & Leisure
Cycling and horse riding are other popular ways to get out and view the countryside, with plenty of trails and old paths through the woods and forests. Many of the hotels, apartments and agriturismos have swimming pools and tennis courts, with golf, quad biking and archery available in and around the town and fun activities such as regional cooking classes on offer.
Beaches
Sun-worshippers can head to the Adriatic coastline, which is an easy day trip and a good choice for sultry summer days, with sandy beach resorts such as Fano located less than an hour from Apecchio.
Truffles
Apecchio is known for its famous truffles, and no trip to the town is complete without either taking part in a hunt for this prized tuber during the season (the white truffle season runs from October to December, whilst black truffles can be found between December and March), or sampling some of the bounty used in the various regional dishes found here. Visitors in October can experience the traditional White Truffle Fair, which takes place in the town in the beginning of the month.
Food & Drink
Le Marche boasts a delicious cuisine, featuring local produce such as the aforementioned truffles, mushrooms, cheeses, prosciutto, salami, and meats such as wild boar and rabbit. The fertile land around Apecchio produces some highly-regarded wines, with many cellars and vineyards offering special wine tasting tours.
Museums
The museum in the historic Ubaldini Palazzo is a major attraction in the town, and features a collection of local fossils and minerals found in the Mount Nerone region.
Day Trips
Apecchio is ideally placed to see some of the country's historic sites and art towns, with Urbino, Assissi, Perugia and Arerzzo within easy reach, and Bologna, Perugia, San Marino and Florence being possible day trips. The region is known for its rich sulphur springs, with their renowned healing and therapeutic properties, which also makes for a relaxing day out.
Skiing
Visitors during the winter months can also head to the slopes of Mount Nerone for some downhill action in the Apennine Mountains.
