Milan Weather

The climate in Milan is subtropical and does have seasonal variations. Summers in Milan are long hot and humid, the spring and autumn months are pleasantly warm while the winters are cooler. Milan is located in the north of Italy in the beautiful Lombardy region and contrasts scorching summers with winter temperatures that can fall below freezing. The summer months can bring relatively high humidity levels and rainfall is distributed evenly throughout the year. The spring and autumn months are thought of by many as the best time to visit Milan although summer is the peak holiday period.

 

Summers in Milan can vary from hot to very hot with July and August bringing the high 29C temperatures. August is vacation month for the locals and many escape the heat to the surrounding Italian lakes of Como, Garda and Maggiore. June and September will see lower temperatures of 25C, which many holidaymakers find preferable. Summer sunshine levels in Milan stand at an average eight hours of hot sunshine per day. Rainfall levels are minimal during the peak summer months and will start to increase slightly from August onwards.

 

Spring does come early in Milan and by March the temperatures will climb to 13C and occasionally over. The Easter holiday period will see Milan showing temperatures just below 20C with six hours of sunshine per day. Autumn temperatures will also be pleasantly warm at 18C during the October holiday period. Spring and autumn are ideal periods to holiday in Milan and explore the Lombardy region with trips to the stunning Italian lakes. Winter holidays in Milan can become cold and snow will usually appear for at least seven days throughout the winter period although rainfall will decrease.
