Bracciano Things To Do

Bracciano features ancient, very narrow streets with extremely old but immaculately kept houses. Wherever you are you’re never far from the castle, around which the town grew hundreds of years ago. It’s a busy, bustling, noisy place – typically Italian – especially busy on Monday mornings with cars whizzing everywhere and locals hanging about chatting in cheerful groups.

Take a special guided tour or visit local ancient and historic monuments. There are plenty of interesting museums. Relaxing with a picnic in one of the town’s lovely green parks is a popular option in hot weather. You can visit local archaeological digs and see the excavations, and tour the town’s lush, exotic botanical gardens.

 

This is Italy, so you’ll find yourself having a gastronomic treat! There are plenty of excellent restaurants, cafes and hotel eateries in Bracciano, with something to suit every taste and pocket. And Rome, with all it offers the travelling gourmet, is only 25 miles away.

 

Lake Bracciano is just outside the town, one of central Italy’s most beautiful lakes. There are an enormous number of activities to get involved in, many of which revolve around the lake and its wonderful natural surroundings.

 

The edges and shores of Lake Bracciano are simply beautiful; you have access to miles and miles of delightful countryside, deserted lakeside beaches, woodland and lake views. You can hire a bicycle or mountain bike and enjoy a leisurely picnic. Explore the area on horseback, or visit the many unspoiled medieval towns in the surrounding area.

 

Regarded as the most beautiful lake in central Italy, Lake Bracciano has a great deal to offer water babies! If you fancy a spot of excitement, try your hand at windsurfing, waterskiing or sailing. Plus there’s swimming, diving, rowing and fishing, walking and hiking day trips, and great golf.

 

Around Lake Bracciano you’ll find companies that’ll offer you hot air balloon rides, skittles, gliding, hang gliding, archery and more! 

 

Built in the 1400s, Bracciano castle is in superb condition. Throughout the castle you’ll be amazed by the ancient but perfect frescoes, sculptures and paintings. And from there, you get a truly beautiful view of lake Bracciano.

As you’d expect in Italy, there are loads of small, unique boutiques, shops and coffee bars to enjoy. Out of town in the Monterano National Preserve you’ll love Casale di Martignano, a traditional farmhouse where you can sample the most delicious traditional food and wines.
