Ravello Things To Do

Ravello has played host to the annual summer Wagner Festival since the early 1950's, with the two-month long festival featuring an ever-increasing range of music including chamber music and orchestra performances, as well as jazz and dance shows. The festival begins in June and runs until September, with most performances taking place at Villa Rufolo. 

 

Ravello is perhaps best-known for its famous villas and their stunning gardens, with the most popular being Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone. Most visitors choose to tour the beautiful manicured grounds of the villas, taking in the lavish foliage, ornate temples, gazebos and grand statues.

 

Many boats depart from Amalfi and make the journey along the stunning coastline, giving visitors a close-up view of the various grottoes and caves that dot the shoreline, before heading out to the island of Capri or the charming town of Positano.

 

Ravello's hillside location is ideal for keen walkers and hikers, with visitors treated to numerous trails and paths leading through the town and the surrounding area. The landscapes are packed with everything from lemon groves to elegant palazzos, and the walks offer extraordinary vistas out across the coastline.  

 

Browse the many shops in town and choose from locally-made products on offer, from colourful ceramics and tableware, to regional foodstuffs such as meats, cheeses, honey, balsamic vinegar and the area's traditional limoncello.

 

For lovers of Italian food, Ravello is an ideal place in which to learn about the cuisine of the region, and boasts a number of different cooking classes for visitors. Students can get involved in shopping for local ingredients, learn different techniques and gain instruction in preparing regional dishes, before enjoying the fruits of their labour, typically in a fun and relaxed social setting.    

 

As well as boat trips to Capri, and strolls around the town of Amalfi, the region offers a chance to experience the exhilarating Amalfi Drive, as well as take day trips to Positano, Sorrento, Pompeii and Naples.
