Negombo lies on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, and enjoys a tropical climate, with hot humid weather. The resort experiences a dry season that runs from December to April and a monsoon during June to October, with an average annual temperature of 29C - 30C and 75% humidity.
Negombo Weather - Winters with high temperatures, lower humidity
The best time to visit Negombo is in the winter from November to April, when the weather is hot but the humidity level is at its lowest. Temperatures range from 26C - 27C, with between 7-8 hours of sunshine each day. The southwest monsoon hits the resort from June to October; bringing rain and winds, and cooler evening temperatures (the other monsoon affects the north of the island between December and March). The sea is warm all year round in Negombo, with water temperatures remaining at 28C - 30C throughout most of the year, and only dipping to 26C in July. These warm waters and offshore winds make Negombo a popular venue for windsurfing and waterskiing.

The rainiest periods are from September to November, and between April and May, seeing 10-12 days of rain each month. October is the wettest month, seeing up to 347mm of rain. Even during the wettest months, the resort sees plenty of sunshine, an average of 6 hours each day.
