Tropical get away beaches do not come much better than Waikkal Beach. Day trips from Waikkal can include the central town of Kandy set on the banks of a river and surrounded by the stunning tropical jungle. Trips to the Temple of the Tooth relic and the botanical gardens can also be included. The vibrant city of Colombo is less than an hour from Waikkal and a few trips will be needed to take in the colourful bazaars, first class restaurants and the spectacular temples.
