Mount Lavinia Weather – Year round tropical sunshine
The climate in Mount Lavinia is tropical meaning high temperatures, high levels of sunshine and periods of rainfall during the monsoon seasons. Average temperatures in Mount Lavinia are 28C during the year but can reach as high as 32C from March through May. Mount Lavinia is located on the west coast of Sri Lanka an area known for its hot, rainy and humid climate. When the monsoon rains do come they will generally appear as short-lived afternoon showers and will take the temperature down a few degrees.
 
Mount Lavinia Weather – Festive holidays with 30C temperatures
December through March is considered the peak holiday period in Mount Lavinia. Rainfall levels will be minimal throughout this period and temperatures will hover around the 30C mark. Sunshine levels stand at around eight hours of hot sunshine per day. This is the perfect season to relax on the stunning Mount Lavinia beaches and visit the vibrant city of Colombo. The month of February boasts the lowest rainfall levels of the year and ocean breezes will help to soften the high temperatures. Temperatures will begin to rise during the months of March and April and daily sunshine levels will rise to nine hours per day.

There really is no low season in Mount Lavinia. Temperatures vary by only a few degrees throughout the year and humidity levels will vary from very high from March to May and high for the remainder of the year. Swimming in Mount Lavinia is available in the bathwater warm ocean waters all year round. The only significant difference in the weather will come with the monsoon seasons. May to August and October to January are Mount Lavinia’s two wet seasons with the months of May and October seeing the most rainfall at 15 inches per month.
