Weather in Ahungalla – A tropical paradise all year round
Lying almost on the equator, the island nation of Sri Lanka retains a hot tropical climate all year round. Ahungalla is no exception with daytime temperatures hovering around 30C throughout the year and night-time temperatures never dropping below 22C. Heat and humidity are high all year round, peaking in May, and the UV index is rated a constant 11+ (extreme). The days are of equal length throughout the year with 12 hours of daylight, although the amount of sunshine that can be expected does vary. Ahungalla and the rest of the south-west coast experiences more rain than the rest of the country, although many find this refreshing. It typically occurs in the afternoon, accompanied by thunder.
 
Ahungalla Weather – Perfect beach weather
Between the heat, the sunshine and the warm seas, Ahungalla’s climate is perfect for beach lovers all year round. Coastal breezes take the edge off the incessant heat. The traditional summer months of May through July experience less hours of sunshine and more rain, with six hours of sunlight during this period and rainfall declining from an average of 12 days per month and 13 inches in May to 10 days and 8 inches in July. Evenings and nights are at their hottest in May and June, rarely dipping below 25C, although this is minimally different from other times of year.
 
Weather in Ahungalla – Off-season trips
Ahungalla is a great destination to visit if holidaying outside of the summer months. Between January and April 8 or 9 hours of sunshine per day can be expected, and rainfall is at its lowest between January and March (5 to 7 days of rain per month and an average of 4 inches of rainfall). Ahungalla experiences its hottest days and coolest nights during these months, with days reaching 30C or 31C and nights dropping to 22C or 23C.
