Poste de Flacq Weather

There is little difference between summer and winter on the island of Mauritius so you can take a holiday to Poste de Flacq at any time of year and enjoy the fantastic climate. The island of Mauritius has a tropical oceanic climate, meaning that humidity levels are medium to high all year round and daily sunshine hours are consistently high. The islands position in the Indian Ocean means that the east coast is cooled by sea breezes on the hottest days, making the temperatures and humidity bearable. It may take a couple of days to acclimatise to the heat if you are not used to it, and be sure to drink enough water.

 

Temperatures in Poste de Flacq rarely dip under 20°C, reaching over 30°C in the hottest months of December and January. Be sure to bring a high factor sun cream and hats to protect yourself and your family from the sun. Sea temperatures hover between 24°C and 28°C all year round, cementing the islands reputation for perfect diving and snorkelling conditions, and swimming in the sea is a joy at any time.

 

Highest temperatures are from November to March, making Poste de Flacq an ideal winter sun break destination. It does rain on the island during the winter months, as evidenced by the lush vegetation; however there is no specific rainy season. Sunshine hours are long all year round, rising to 8 and 9 hours from October to February. June and July bring the shortest sunshine hours, still an impressive 7 hours. It's worth knowing that there is a small risk of tropical cyclones in the winter, but these only happen on average 3 to 4 times a year.
