Grand Baie Things To Do
Pereybere beach is fairly busy. You’ll find sun beds and umbrellas for hire as well as a nice variety of watersports for fun in the sea. The waters here are clean, calm and a shallow and the safe swimming areas are marked with colourful buoys, perfect for little kids and safe for swimming, sailing, windsurfing, and water skiing. There are a few young palm trees dotting the beach, which backs onto shady woodland complete with picnic tables, seating, kiosks and cafes.
Island Excursions
Grand Baie offers loads of boat excursions around Mauritius and surrounding islands Gunners' Quoin, Flat Island, Round Island, and Serpent Island. Trips run every day and you don’t always have to book in advance. Pick up some brochures and choose your favourite trip. You can even take a trip on a glass bottomed boat and see local sea life going about its business from above.
Cruise on the Isla Mauricia
The oldest working schooner in the world, the Isla Mauricia was built way back in 1852 and now operates cruises for holidaymakers. You can book via almost any of the island’s tour operators. You can also book exhilarating catamaran cruises locally.
Snorkelling and deep sea angling
Hire some gear and go snorkelling, the warm seas are packed with life and you’ll have a fascinating experience watching any number of weird and wonderful creatures. If you like your seas a bit deeper you can take yourself off for some deep sea angling.
In town
Grand Baie town itself is packed with fashion and craft shops, a great place to pick up something really special and unique, made locally. You’ll also discover smart hotels, good restaurants and a choice of lively nightclubs.
Helicopter excursions
If you’ve got a few quid to spend, you can book a helicopter trip, in Grand Baie. Imagine hovering over the turquoise seas with the islands dotted below you like little jewels.
