Vilu Reef Beach and Spa Resort lies in the northeast region of the South Nilandhoo Atoll, 90 minutes from Male airport. Boasting an idyllic tropical location in the Maldives, the resort also experiences an equally appealing climate, with high temperatures and abundant sunshine throughout the year. Influenced by the two distinct weather patterns that blow through the islands, the tourist season in Vilu Reef Beach and Spa Resort runs from November to April, when the northeast monsoon brings dry warm weather, perfect for a beach holiday.

The season begins in November, when the average daytime high reaches a steady 30C, and there are between 7 - 8 hours of sunshine each day. These early months do see some wet weather however, with both November and December receiving just less than 200mm of rainfall. The best conditions are seen from January to March, when the rainfall drops to the lowest level of the year, with between 68mm - 90mm falling, and the temperatures ranging from 30C - 31C. Humidity is also at its lowest at this time, and the region basks in up to 9 hours of sunshine each day, with evening temperatures hovering around 26C - ideal for al fresco dining and moonlit walks on the beach. The waters of the Indian Ocean remain nice and warm, with average highs of 28C, meaning great conditions for swimming and water sports.    
 
Weather in Vilu Reef Beach and Spa Resort - Summers see the rainy season 
April sees an increase in temperature and humidity as the island prepares for the oncoming southwest monsoon and the rainy season. The average daytime high rises to 32C, and conditions remain hot and sticky for the next few months. Rainfall increases, with May seeing up to 211mm during the month, and the summer season receiving around 200mm until September. The following two months see the wettest weather in Vilu Reef Beach and Spa Resort, with 213mm - 229mm of rain falling in September and October. Daytime temperatures remain constant however, with the average high staying at 30C from June through to December.
