Thudufushi Island Resort Weather

Thudufushi Island Resort sits in the South Ari Atoll in the Maldives, and experiences a hot tropical climate, with plenty of sunshine and some humidity during the year. The weather here is affected by the two monsoons that blow through the Maldives - the northeast and southwest monsoons - which bring both dry and wet weather and influence the tourist season.  

 

Most visitors to the Maldives come during the British winter, looking to escape the cold wet weather and enjoy the idyllic tropical beaches and abundant sunshine. The northeast monsoon begins to affect the islands in November, bringing dry weather, although up until the end of December there is still around 190mm of rain each month. January to March sees perhaps the best conditions for a holiday in Thudufushi Island Resort, as the rains decrease and the island sees the driest weather of the year - just 60mm - 90mm each month. Temperatures hover around 30C - 31C, and there is 8 - 9 hours of sunshine each day - perfect for relaxing on the beaches and taking boat trips out into the Indian Ocean. March sees the temperature start to rise, in readiness for the arrival of the southwest monsoon and the rainy season, and by April Thudufushi Island Resort is experiencing its hottest weather - up to 32C. There's also a marked increase in humidity, which continues until June.     

 

May sees the beginning of the rainy season, with the resort seeing 211mm of rainfall, and between 160mm - 190mm each month during the summer. There are still high temperatures of 30C at this time, and a steady 7 hours of sunshine each day, and by July the humidity has decreased again. Conditions remain constant until September and October, when the rains increase, with 213mm and 229mm falling respectively.
