Olhuveli Island is situated a short distance from Male airport in the South Male Atoll in the Maldives. This stunning paradise island enjoys a tropical oceanic climate, with constant high temperatures and high humidity for much of the year. Olhuveli Island is covered with lush tropical vegetation, a result of the yearly rainy season. If you are not used to tropical conditions, it may take a day or two to acclimatise to the heat. Trade winds from the Indian Ocean cool the hottest days, which hover around 30°C throughout the year.

The white sands, clear waters and blue lagoons of Olhuveli Island make this resort a perfect kite surfing destination, and contains the only certified Kite Surfing School in the Maldives. Both the west and east coasts of the island are used for water sports, however the east side generally has bigger waves, and there is around 500m until the coral reefs begin, creating a perfect area for kite surfing. With the crystal clear waters (visibility is best from November to April) diving at Olhuveli Island is a treat for beginners and experienced divers alike. With sea temperatures hovering constantly around 28°C, the conditions around Olhuveli Island are perfect for a stunning display of corals and tropical sea life, which can be explored under the guidance of trained diving instructors.

November to April is the driest months, making Olhuveli Island a perfect winter getaway destination. As you can see from the table to the right, daily sunshine hours are consistent throughout the year; however Olhuveli has a distinct rainy season, as it is shares the Indian monsoon cycle. The trade winds change direction from May to September to bring the rainy season, which manifests in daily, short bursts of rain and is often followed by a return of the sunshine to dry off the island.
