Weather in Male - Maldives capital with tropical climate
Male, the capital of the Maldives, lies in the northern part of the archipelago, and experiences a hot tropical climate throughout the year. The weather is influenced by the two monsoons that affect the city - the dry northeast monsoon running from November to March, and the southwest monsoon which brings heavy rains and hits between May and October.

With temperatures around 30C throughout the year, Male is an ideal base for a tropical beach holiday, with the rains affecting the seasonal conditions and determining the best time to visit. The British winters see the driest time, with November to March being the peak season, with highs of 30C and the lowest humidity level. March sees the humidity level rise and the daily sunshine decrease slightly, and by April the highs have reached 32C and conditions are extremely hot and sticky.

Spring sees the hottest and most humid weather in Male, and by May the level of rainfall has begun to increase, with 211mm received during the month. Summers are wet, with a monthly average of 170mm, peaking in September and October at 230mm. There is still around 7 hours of sun each day in Male during the summer, daytime highs of 30C and sea temperatures of 29C.
