Komandoo Island Resort Weather

Komandoo Island Resort lies on a small island in the Lhaviyani Atoll, 80 miles north of Male airport. The tiny island is natural and unspoilt, and experiences a typically hot tropical climate, perfect for an idyllic beach holiday. With highs of at least 30C all year round, the temperatures do not fluctuate dramatically throughout the seasons, however the weather is influenced by both the northeast and southwest monsoons that affect the area and dominate the holiday season.

 

The British winter is the best time for a holiday to Komandoo Island Resort, as the northeast monsoon starts to arrive in November and brings dry hot weather, with average humidity levels. November and December see an average of 190mm of rain each month, and at least 7 - 8 hours of sunshine, whilst January to March experiences the best conditions of the year. The weather is at its driest, with between 60mm - 90mm of rainfall each month, and the temperature hovers around 31C. The sun shines for at least 8 - 9 hours of sunshine each day, and the water is at its coolest, but still reaches temperatures of 28C - 29C - ideal for swimming and water sports. Humidity starts to rise in March and by April, Komandoo Island Resort is experiencing its hottest weather, with temperatures reaching 32C, and the humidity continuing into the early summer. May sees the onset of the southwest monsoon, and the start of the wet weather, with an average of 211mm of rain during the month, with June to August receiving 160mm - 180mm each month. Temperatures remain constant, with the resort seeing average highs of 30C through the summer, and 7 hours of sunshine.   

September and October is the wettest period in Komandoo Island Resort, with 213mm - 229mm of rain falling at this time. Temperatures remain at 30C, and the sunshine increases to 8 hours each day in November, as the rains decrease slightly and the northeast monsoon arrives again.
