Faafu Atoll Weather – Year round tropical sunshine
Faafu Atoll is located in the Southern Atolls of the Maldives, and this collection of islands receives a spectacular 2700 hours of sunshine per year. The climate in Faafu Atoll is typically tropical meaning high temperatures of between 29C and 32C throughout the year. The only difference in the weather conditions will be seen in the amount of rainfall. May through November is known as the wet season in Faafu Atoll although this area is never generally disturbed by very severe weather such as cyclones. When rainfall does it occur it will usually be short and heavy and then quickly dried up by the hot sunshine.
Weather in Faafu Atoll – The perfect beach weather
December through April is known as the dry season in Faafu Atoll, and this period provides temperatures of around 30C, low levels of humidity and less rainfall. This is the perfect time to relax on the beaches on islands such as Filitheyo, Magoodhoo, and Nilandhoo. Sunshine levels are high during this period and holiday makers can expect around eight hours of hot sunshine per day. There is very little difference between the air and sea temperatures and the lagoons and Indian Ocean temperature will hover around 26C all year round. Evening temperatures will also be warm at around 25C and light summer clothing will be all that is required.

May is known as the transitional period and temperatures and humidity levels will increase during this month. Light showers will also appear as the wet season approaches. Although May through November is considered the low season in the Faafu Atoll the temperatures do not decrease and sea conditions become perfect for diving and windsurfing. Rainfall in Faafu Atoll is never continuous and does add another dimension to this natural beauty spot.
