Weather in Athurugau Island Resort - Visit during the British winter for ideal conditions
The best time to visit Athuruga Island Resort is during the northeast monsoon, which runs during the British winter, from November to April. During this time, the temperature remains around 30C and the island sees anywhere from 7 - 9 hours of sunshine each day - meaning idyllic conditions on the resort's tropical beach. There is a little rainfall, from 60mm - 100mm each month, however these winter months experience the driest weather of the year, with brief short-lived showers. Sea temperatures are a steady 28C in these months, with the wonderfully warm clear waters of the Indian Ocean particularly attracting scuba-divers and snorkelers. Humidity during these months is high but comfortable, which changes in March and April, when the levels start to become very high, and the temperatures begin to rise up to 31C - 32C.
