Varca Things To Do

Unspoilt, with wide stretches of sand dotted with fishing boats and backed by black lava rocks and swaying palms, the beach at Varca offers an idyllic base for tropical relaxation. The various luxury hotels have their own private sections of beach, and there is a good choice of beach shacks for drinks, lunch and dinner.

 

Boat trips depart regularly on dolphin-watching trips, and there are sailing excursions up and down the coastline, as well as fishing trips and river rides along the River Sal - great for crocodile-spotting.

 

For more energetic guests, the various hotels on the beach have facilities for windsurfing, jet skiing, water skiing and parasailing, with tennis, mini-golf and archery, and aerobics and martial arts classes also offered.

 

An excellent way to explore the area is by bike, which can be rented within the resort, with many choosing to cycle up and down the shoreline enjoying the views, especially the incredible sunsets.

 

Yoga and meditation can be practiced on the beach, and ayurvedic treatments such as massages area available in the hotel spas and local wellness centres.

 

A huge part of any holiday to Goa is sampling the food and drink of the region. There's plenty to discover, whether it's in a hotel's gourmet restaurant or one of the charming beach shacks that line the shores - which produce excellent local specialties, using fresh fish, seafood and spices, at very affordable prices. 

 

Many guests choose to hire a taxi to travel around, and visit resorts close by such as Benaulim and Colva, or for day trips to Anjuna, Margoa and Panjim to experience city life and bustling Indian streets, and the excellent colourful markets.
