The quiet resort of Varca is situated in the tranquil area of South Goa, a calm and peaceful region far removed from the shores of North Goa, with its’ vibrant atmosphere and swinging party reputation of the last few decades. Varca Beach is a long isolated 10km stretch of clean soft white sand, which shelves into the warm Arabian Sea, and provides the perfect base for relaxing and soaking up the sun. The beach at Varca has a natural beauty, with black lava rocks dotting the sands, and there are plenty of sunbeds and loungers from which to admire the tranquil scenery. Wooden fishing boats are lined along some areas of Varca beach, and long houses with traditional palm-thatched roofs sit behind the dunes, home to the local fishing community. Numerous beach shacks offer delicious fish and seafood dishes at extremely reasonable prices, and Varca is home to some large 4 and 5 star hotels, which sit behind the beach amidst beautiful gardens and attractive surroundings.

Rent a bike and cycle along the wonderful sandy beach
The atmosphere in Varca is one of peace and tranquility, with most visitors content to relax on the magnificent beach and enjoy the beauty of the area. A great way to explore Varca and the surrounding area is by bike, and many people choose to rent bicycles on the beach and cycle along the sands. Dolphin-watching is extremely popular (the area is home to bottlenose dolphins), and a great way to experience them up close is on an early-morning cruise along the River Sal. Varca is just a few kilometers from Benaulim, a fast-developing resort offering numerous beach-front restaurants and luxury hotels. 

Weather Varca
November sees the start of the tourist season, with highs of 33C and 9 hours of sunshine each day. During the winter months, up until March, the days remain hot with an abundance of sunshine, and virtually no rainfall at all. Humidity is at its lowest during this time, and although the weather is intense, the cooling breezes from the Arabian Sea help to temper the high heat. The water temperature is a very warm 28C, ideal for swimming, and at night visitors can expect highs of around 20C.
