With a different atmosphere to the party scene of the north, Cavelossim is regarded as an upmarket region of Goa, with its’ numerous large and exclusive luxury hotels attracting many international visitors. Neighbouring resorts along this stretch of coastline include Colva and Varca Beach, all calm and tranquil havens, and the ideal spot for visitors looking for rest and relaxation in an idyllic beach resort.
A long stretch of clean white sand
The beach at Cavelossim is a 10km stretch of white sand, perfect for sunbathing and relaxing, shell-collecting or the more active pursuits of water-skiing or kayaking. The beach, like most of the resorts in South Goa, tends to be clean and not too crowded, and is served by a great choice of beach shacks, serving up delicious Goan dishes. Primarily a fishing village, the shacks and restaurants of Cavelossim also serve up plenty of wonderful fresh fish and seafood. Most of the entertainment revolves around the larger hotels on the beach, yet the resort is reasonably busy, with a good choice of shops, and has the typical village square housing the local church.
Enjoy the dolphin-watching
The pace of life in the south of Goa is fairly slow and relaxing, with the emphasis on enjoying the beach during the day, and the good food of either the shacks or the more up-market restaurants in the evenings. This stretch of coastline at Cavelossim is famous for its’ dolphins, with good facilities for watching at Bettys’ Place, and many dolphin-watching boat trips up the River Sal. A good way to explore the neighbouring villages and resorts of Cavelossim is by scooter or bike, and local taxis are extremely reasonable.
