The stunning 4-star Hotel Riu Mambo provides everything you’d expect from an exotic holiday in the Dominican Republic. Two huge, curvy swimming pools surrounded by swaying palm trees and thatched parasols give the pool area the impression of a secluded lagoon. The hotel benefits from 2 stunning private beaches. Rooms are set in attractive 2-tiered villas, spread out in a village style amongst lush vegetation and brightly coloured flowers. An excellent buffet restaurant serves a wide variety of dishes, or guests can opt to dine at the poolside restaurant which offers speciality a la carte steakhouse and Italian menus. Guests will find plenty to keep them entertained with a gym, tennis courts, a range of water sports, an on-site nightclub, health spa facilities and much more. The Riu Mambo has 2 sister hotels - the Bachata and Merengue and guests can use the facilities at any of them.
The hotel boasts and excellent seafront location, with a golden sandy beach just metres from the complex. The sleepy fishing village of Bahia Maimon in which the hotel is situated is peaceful and laid-back. Just around the headland can be found the Dudu and Blue Lagoons – excellent for snorkelling and scuba diving thanks to their fantastically clear waters and hidden caves. For active holidaymakers interested in hiking and seeing some of the Caribbean countryside, the Cordillera Mountains offer stunning scenery and breath-taking views. Around 9km away is the resort of Puerto Plata, where there is a good range of bars, restaurants and shops. Well worth a look is Ocean World, an adventure park found amidst the reefs of the Beach of Cofresí, where there are numerous dolphins, beaches, forests, fishbowls, exotic birds, Malayan tigers and other assorted animals. The airport is about a 45 minute drive away.
