The stunning 4-star Hotel Riu Mambo provides everything you’d expect from an exotic holiday in the Dominican Republic. The sleepy fishing village of Bahia Maimon in which the hotel is situated is peaceful and laid-back. Just around the headland can be found the Dudu and Blue Lagoons – excellent for snorkelling and scuba diving thanks to their fantastically clear waters and hidden caves. For active holidaymakers interested in hiking and seeing some of the Caribbean countryside, the Cordillera Mountains offer stunning scenery and breath-taking views. Around 9km away is the resort of Puerto Plata, where there is a good range of bars, restaurants and shops. Well worth a look is Ocean World, an adventure park found amidst the reefs of the Beach of Cofresí, where there are numerous dolphins, beaches, forests, fishbowls, exotic birds, Malayan tigers and other assorted animals. The airport is about a 45 minute drive away.

 

Accommodation at the Club Hotel Riu Mambo consists of 463 clean and comfortable rooms, spread out in attractive pastel coloured villas with perfectly manicured lawns. Double rooms come with 2 double beds and a camp bed suitable for a third person if required. There are also a limited number of double rooms available for sole use, as well as suites which are larger and come with a separate living area and additional TV. Triple rooms sleeping a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 adults are also available between May and October. All rooms come with air conditioning, ceiling fan, satellite TV, mini bar, liquor dispenser, telephone, radio, full bathroom with WC and balcony or terrace.

 

The hotel provides the extensive range of facilities typical of Dominican hotels. Two expansive, lagoon-style swimming pools are surrounded by beautiful terraces with thatched sun-parasols. The complex has 2 private beaches. The non-smoking Los Almendros buffet restaurant offers themed buffets twice a week, and the poolside restaurant offers a choice of Italian and steakhouse a la carte menus. Guests can enjoy tropical cocktails and other refreshments at one of the 3 bars - the Mangú poolside bar, the Pérez Prado lounge bar or the La Tambora beach bar. The complex has its own nightclub, Pacha, which opens between 10pm – 2am. Entertainment facilities include 5 floodlit tennis courts, bowls, table tennis, windsurfing, beach volleyball, water polo, kayaks, sailing, snorkelling and body boards at the nearby beach. There is a regular daytime entertainment programme, and an evening entertainment programme with live shows and live music. To relax and unwind, the complex has a spa with beauty treatments, massages and sauna.
