Hotel Raga, Madiera

A stylish, modern hotel in the popular lido area of Funchal, the 3-star Hotel Raga commands breath-taking views of the Atlantic Ocean from its elevated vantage point. The complex benefits from a fantastic central location, with a good selection of shops, restaurants, cafés and bars nearby and easy access to the Lido swimming pools and sea. There is an attractive, angular pool surrounded by sun terraces. Two on-site restaurants -  L’Horizon and Restaurant Bar Five – serve a selection of international and local dishes from an a la carte menu, while the hotel’s 3 bars will keep guests refreshed long into the night. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. Reviews frequently praise the excellent breakfasts served at the restaurant, great location and general cleanliness of the hotel. Due to its hillside position, this complex may not be suitable for the mobility impaired.

 

The complex benefits from a prime location in the heart of the renowned lido district, with direct access to numerous popular lido swimming pools, as well as Formosa Beach and the scenic promenade. A 15 minute walk will take you into the resort centre Funchal, where there is an abundance of restaurants, taverns, cafes and shops. The impressive Funchal Ecological Park is a 5-minute drive away. Madeira Airport is 25 minutes’ drive from the hotel.

 

Accommodation at the Hotel Raga consists of 170 spacious and well-appointed rooms set across 11 floors. Many rooms have sea views. Rooms have a maximum of 3 beds and come with air conditioning, flat screen satellite TV, a mini bar, sofa, desk and chair, telephone, hairdryer, full bathroom with WC and balcony or terrace. There are a limited number of rooms fitted with kitchenettes also available - these come with a fridge, microwave, sink and crockery.

 

Facilities at the complex are contemporary and stylish. There is a large geometric outdoor heated pool with a poolside bar that serves drinks and snacks throughout the day. Two restaurants, L’Horizon and Restaurant Bar Five, offer a variety of dishes from a menu which changes daily. A cocktail lounge bar and a lobby bar provide refreshments long into the night. More active guests will enjoy the fitness centre and games room complete with table tennis. Other facilities include a 24-hour reception, babysitting service, internet corner, Wi-Fi access throughout the hotel and free parking.
