Hotel Kissos, Cyprus

The 3-star Hotel Kissos is a popular, well-run complex situated in a central location in Paphos. The hotel has a Mediterranean village feel, with rooms set out in attractive white-washed, low-rise blocks. A unique feature of the hotel is its striking design – as well as a large rectangular outdoor pool, there is a lagoon-style pool that snakes through the buildings like a river – meaning you’re never far away from a refreshing dip! Rooms are simple but comfortable, and kept immaculately clean. Reviews frequently comment on how friendly the staff are and the good standard of food served at the on-site buffet restaurant.

 

One of the key selling points of the hotel has to be excellent central location. Just off a side road from the main Tomb of Kings road, the hotel is a 200m walk from a wide sand and shingle beach, and there are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops nearby. The picturesque Paphos harbour is a pleasant 45 minute walk away along a breezy coastal path, or you can catch a bus and be there in 10 minutes. The impressive 4th century BC Tomb of the Kings (a network of vast underground burial chambers) is well worth a look and a convenient 5 minutes’ walk away. As for Paphos town, it is made up of 2 distinct halves - Kato Paphos is where you’ll find the pretty medieval harbour, and Ktima inland is all bustling, hilly streets and authentic Cypriot atmosphere.

 

Accommodation at the Hotel Kissos consists of 144 rooms, set across numerous blocks in a village-style complex, with gleaming white-washed walls and warm terracotta tiling. Rooms are simple but bright and clean. Standard rooms come with twin beds and a camp bed. Family rooms (sleeping a minimum of 4 people – 2 adults and 2 children) come with twin beds, a double sofa bed and an additional camp bed if required. All rooms come with a satellite TV, air conditioning, hairdryer, telephone, mini fridge, radio, safety deposit box, full bathroom with WC and balcony or terrace.

 

The complex provides a good range of facilities in attractive surroundings. A large rectangular outdoor pool is surrounded by sun terraces with plenty of sun beds. There is a lazy-river that meanders through the complex and leads to a turquoise lagoon style pool, with a smaller children’s pool nearby. Those looking to relax and unwind will appreciate the gym, sauna and health club. Entertainment facilities include flood-lit tennis courts, a giant chess set, crazy golf, darts, bowls, table tennis, pool tables and video games. There is a pool bar and a lobby cocktail bar with a big screen satellite TV, where evening entertainment is regularly put on including live music and shows. The on-site buffet restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is regularly praised in reviews for its high standard of cuisine.
