Weather in Greece - Long, sun-kissed summers
Greece is blessed with plenty of sunshine and high temperatures for long sections of the year that draw visitors looking for idyllic beach holidays and warm seas in the summer months. As the heat of summer gives way to Autumn, large parts of Greece experience a pleasant 'Indian Summer' and while the occasional rainstorm is likely, especially in the West or in mountain regions, Greece can be immensely rewarding at this time of year. Clear blue skies, brilliant sunlight and warm seas can be enjoyed outside peak season.
Weather in Greece - Perfect for a relaxing beach holiday
In high summer, southern Greece tends to be very hot and temperatures in July and August can reach the high 30s. Its no wonder that locals and tourists alike head for the coast at this time of year and being close to the sea to enjoy the breeze and the water is probably the best place to be. Northern Greece and the mountain areas are generally cooler but in general hot, moderately humid weather is typical in Greece in summer and up to 12 hours of sunshine a day can be expected in July and August.
Greece Weather - Wonderful weather in the low season
Spring and Autumn can be just as rewarding as a summer holiday in Greece. With temperatures averaging in the 20s, blue skies and long sunny days, June and September in particular have all the makings for a summertime beach holiday but without the crowds and with less intense heat. Certain areas, such as the northern-mainland coast around the Halkidhiki peninsula only really cater to visitors during July and August but southern Greece caters for tourists outside the peak months. Winter in Greece can be cool and wet, especially in the north and mountain areas but the south enjoys around 4 hours of sunshine a day and average temperatures in double figures.
