Weather in Milina – A sheltered coastal town
Located on the east coast of Greece inside the Pagasitic Gulf, Milina is within the drier region of Pelion. As a coastal settlement inside a huge bay the town enjoys the advantages of sea access sheltered from the worst winds and currents. Milina experiences warm and hot Mediterranean summers with minimal or non-existent rainfall and clouds. The winters can be wet although temperatures remain mild; snowfall is possible but rare and does not settle. Average daytime temperatures through the year vary between 10 and 30C, and hours of sunlight are generally high between 4 and 13 hours.
Milina Weather – Mediterranean summers
During the summer Milina is blessed with a huge amount of sunshine. In July, at summer’s height, thirteen hours of sunshine can be expected. In the neighbouring months 11 or 12 hours are the norm. Temperatures during the summer can reach almost 30C during the day, dropping to no lower than 14C at night. As there are very few days of rainfall between the months of June and September, and the total amount of rainfall various between half an inch and just under two inches, Milina’s summers can be relied upon to provide a genuine Mediterranean climate.
Weather in Milina – Short and temperate autumn and spring
The spring and autumn seasons in Milina are short and transitional, as the weather moves into the cooler, wetter winter or the long, warm summer. During these transitional periods the weather can be quite changeable, but due to the reduced humidity and less oppressive heat some visitors may find these short seasons to be the ideal time to visit the Pelion region. April and March, or October and November, still enjoy temperatures in the mid-teens or higher during the day with 5 to 7 hours of sunshine. The chance of rain is higher at this time, with rainfall tending to be heavy but short; in addition the UV index is reduced and humidity is unlikely. Nights during the spring and autumn are much cooler, as is the sea temperature during the day.
