Polichrono Things To Do

Polichrono things to do
Great for families
Polichrono is a small and sleepy village in a dreamy beach holiday setting; it's a place where time appears to stand still. Not a resort for night owls, Polichrono has a relaxed feel that gives it instant appeal for young families looking for a bucket-and-spade and sunbathing holiday.

Beach life
This is Greece, so anyone intent on sunbathing won't be disappointed by a beach holiday in Polichrono. The hot Mediterranean climate is a given and Polichrono's subtropical summers come with azure skies, with the steaming temperatures pleasantly cooled by a local breeze known as the meltemia. A 30-foot deep, half-mile, sand-and-shingle beach slopes gently into the remarkably clean water, which is perfect for children and casual swimmers. You can hire sunbeds and parasols at Polichrono at very reasonable cost, while snorkelling and pedalo hire might also be on your list of activities.

Bars, restaurants and shopping
Don't expect to be bopping the night away. Polichrono holidays tend to be family affairs. Babysitter in place, however, the town has enough friendly tavernas and bars to make for a relaxing and low-key evening. Along the front, there's a quarter-mile strip of shops, bars and restaurants. Polichrono bars come in various shapes and sizes – music bars, sports bars and even a tropical music bar with a dance floor. In between the seafront bars and up the side streets, you'll also find a nice mix of restaurants, ranging from Greek to Italian and simple fast food. While the bulk of your retail therapy will probably be in Thessaloniki, Polichrono does well for shopping – clothing outlets are plentiful and there are numerous places to buy basic foodstuffs and souvenirs.
