Laganas Weather

The major tourist resort of Laganas lies on the south coast of Zante, and boasts a typically-Mediterranean climate ideal for a beach holiday. With an average summer temperature of 29.5C, and up to 13 hours of sunshine each day, the days are perfect for sunbathing, swimming and water sports, and thanks to evenings hovering around 20C, conditions are great for the extensive nightlife scene, too.   

 

Laganas enjoys a long tourist season running from May to October, with an early or late season holiday ideal for beating the intense heat and the crowds. April sees warm weather, with highs of 19C and 8 hours of sunshine and the days are generally dry, with a few showers and 48mm of rain. May heats up with average daytime temperatures of 24C and 10 hours of sun, and by June Laganas is basking in 28C weather and 12 hours of daily sunshine. Summers are very dry, with less than 10mm or rain each month, and the humidity starts to rise at this time, peaking in July and August, when the highs soar to 31C. Abundant sunshine and a warm water temperature of 26C makes for long lazy days on the beach, and the night-time high of 20C means visitors can make the most of the open-air tavernas and bars until well into the night.        

 

The hot weather continues into September, with average temperatures of 28C and 10 hours of sunshine and the days remain relatively dry, with 35mm of rain. By October, the season is winding down, and the temperatures drop to 23C, with this month seeing the beginning of wet weather in Laganas. Rainfall increases dramatically, as this month receives 134mm, and the wettest month of December sees 188mm of rain - with this weather helping to keep the whole island green and lush throughout the rest of the year. Temperatures remain mild, only dropping to 14C in the winter months.
