Alykes Weather

Alykes, together with its neighbour, Alikanas, lies on the north coast of Zante, and boasts a mild Mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers and cooler wetter winters. The resort enjoys a tourist season running from May to October, and thanks to an average summer temperature of 28C, and as much as 13 hours of daily sunshine, the peak season months welcome visitors looking to relax on the beaches of the area.

 

Spring sees warm weather, with the temperature in April reaching 18C, and creating good conditions for walking, cycling and sightseeing tours. Despite a few showers, the resort is generally dry, with an average of 54mm of monthly rain. May heats up to 23C, with 10 hours of sun, and by June, the resort is seeing average highs of 27C each day, and extremely limited rainfall of just 11mm. Evening temperatures in Alykes remain pleasant, reaching 17C, and the humidity level begins to increase at this time. July and August, the peak season months, experience average daytime highs of 30C and up to 13 hours of sun, with these long summer days ideal for relaxing on the beaches, and as the sea temperatures reach 26C, plenty of swimming in the warm waters. There is a little wind during the summer, thanks to the northerly meltemi which blows across the island, which helps to temper the heat on very hot days.

 

The hot weather continues into September, with highs of 27C and 10 hours of daily sunshine, and by October, the resort begins to cool down, with the average daytime temperature reaching 22C, and the sun shining for 7 hours each day. October does see a marked increase in rain, receiving 139mm during the month, with this wet weather continuing throughout the winter, and December experiencing the most rain all year - as much as 188mm. Temperatures are mild during the low-season, with the coldest months of January and February dropping to just 13C, however the resort still sees 5 hours of sunshine each day.
