Skala Potamias Weather

Skala Potamias is located on the sunny east coast of Thassos, an island famed for its white sand beaches and warm climate. Temperatures on Skala Potamias do rise to 30C during the high season but the heat will not be scorching as found on the southern Greek islands. Shelter from the Meltemi winds is provided by the Greek mainland and humidity levels in Skala Potamias are relatively low throughout the year. The warm climate means that swimming in the North Aegean Sea is available from mid April to mid October.

Summer comes early in Skala Potamias and by May the temperatures will head over 20C with the sun shining down for nine hours per day. Rainfall levels will begin to decrease from May onwards as hot sunshine and clear blue skies become prevalent. June through August are the peak summer months with temperatures in Skala Potamias heading up to and sometimes over 30C. This is the ideal beach weather season and beaches at Skala Potamias and nearby Golden Beach will be busy with holiday makers enjoying the warm sea waters. Evenings will also be warm with a minimum temperature of 17C; perfect for leisurely dinners in the open air restaurants.

 

September and October are popular holiday months in Skala Potamias. The weather is still warm, gradually decreasing from 25C to 19C and swimming is still available. Rainfall levels will begin to increase from mid October as winter starts to creep in. The spring months are a particularly beautiful time in Skala Potamias, the flowers will be blooming and the air will become warm and pleasant. During the April Easter holidays the temperatures will hover between 15C and 24C although the evenings may be slightly chilly.
