Skopelos Town Weather

Skopelos Town, the capital, lies on the southeast side of Skopelos, and offers a typically-Mediterranean climate. The hub of the island and its main port, the town is ideal for exploring, and thanks to the summer sunshine, conditions are ideal for leisurely strolls, shopping and relaxed drinks and meals in the open-air cafes and tavernas.

 

The tourist season on the island runs from May to October, with Skopelos Town seeing warm spring days and long hot summers. April brings highs of 17C and 8 hours of sun, rising to 22C in May with 10 hours of sunshine, although this early season weather can be quite changeable with a monthly average of 36-39mm or rain. It's an ideal time to get out and explore the green landscape, and enjoy outdoor activities such as walking and hiking. June begins to heat up, rising to 26C, and by July and August Skopelos Town is enjoying high temperatures of 28C and up to 13 hours of daily sunshine, with a marked increase in humidity. There can still be summer showers at this time, with the town receiving 20mm - 25mm of rain each month, even in the height of the season. Visitors to Skopelos Town invariably head to the coast during these hot months to enjoy relaxing on the many beaches of the area.  

Autumn sees a slight drop in temperature, with Skopelos Town experiencing highs of 25C in September and 20C in October. There's still plenty of sunshine, between 7 - 10 hours each day, but a higher chance of rain, with 46mm - 79mm expected. Winter holidays to Skopelos will remain mild, with temperatures not dropping below 10C during the coldest month of January, and the wet low-season weather, as much as 122mm in December, helping to maintain the lush green landscapes on the island.
