Skopelos Town Things to Do

Town
Exploring Skopelos Town presents a unique change from the beach, and visitors will delight in touring the narrow cobbled streets of the Old Town, full of tiny churches, shops, cafes and tavernas, strolling along the lively waterfront of the beautiful harbour and its lively waterfront, or admiring the views from the medieval fortress.

The Castle
The 13th-century Venetian castle sits above the town and is accessible from the harbour, with visitors able to tour the grounds, learn about the history and enjoy wonderful views from the site.

Boat Trips
Boats depart the harbour for tours around the coast and the deserted islands off-shore, and water-taxis head out to local beaches such as Glisteri. A regular ferry and hydrofoil service travels to and from Skiathos, and connects to Thessaloniki, Naxos and Paros.

Walking & Biking
Go of town to explore the island's forested hills, olive groves and fruit orchards, which provide ideal terrain for mountain biking, and an excellent choice of hiking trails and ancient mule tracks. As well as marvelling at the scenery whilst walking or riding, there are pretty churches, crumbling monasteries and white-washed villages to tour, and a host of wild birds to spot.

Shopping
The main town on the island, Skopelos Town has the best shopping, with a good choice of places for browsing leather goods, ceramics, linens, lace, jewellery and arts and crafts, and home to both traditional local gift shops and boutiques. Regional foods to take home include local honey and feta cheese.

Entertainment
Nightlife is low-key and focuses on leisurely dinners and evening drinks, with Skopelos Town home to a good range of local tavernas, with those down on the waterfront remaining popular, thanks to the charming atmosphere and scenery.
