Vlyhada Things To Do

Beaches
This fishing village on the southern tip of Santorini boasts a long stretch of black sand, which connects up to the livelier Perivolos and Perissa on the east coast, and together makes up one of the best beaches on the island. Vlyhada is perhaps the quietest part of the beach, ideal for peaceful sunbathing, and is characterised by lighter-coloured pumice rocks that have developed into unusual shapes.

Sports and activities
There are water sports along the beach, including jet-skiing, windsurfing, water skiing, scuba diving and snorkelling. Fishing, boating, mountain biking and horse-riding are all available in the area.

Boat trips
Boats can be moored at the marina, and there are cruises around the south coast, taking visitors out to various sights and deserted beaches, as well as on longer journeys around the Cyclades Islands.

Water Park
The Water Park at Perissa is home to a number of pools, as well as slides and restaurants, and offers families a change from the beach, just a few kilometres away.

Entertainment
Entertainment is laid-back and centres on dining in the local restaurants and tavernas, and leisurely drinks at the bar. Busier resorts on the east coast offer a livelier nightlife scene.

Day trips
Don't miss a visit to the archaeological site of Akrotiri on the west coast, an ancient Minoan settlement, and the amazing Red Beach, see the Mesa Vouno lit up at night or make a trip to the charming mountain village of Pyrgos, the highest village on the island. Explore the capital, Fira, known for its excellent shopping and dining, tour the beautiful towns of Imerovigli or Oia, or cruise along the coast on a boat trip from the port.
