Beach
The famed Kamari beach lies at just over 2km long, with its beautiful dark volcanic sand and warm Aegean waters it is the perfect place to enjoy the sun. Kamari beach can accommodate all needs with sun loungers, umbrellas and watersport activities while being flanked by an impressive range of beach side bars, restaurants and tavernas.
Watersports
The beach at Kamari is arguably Santorini’s most active particularly with the range of watersports on offer. Choose from adrenaline pumping waterskiing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, jet ski hire or a ride in a towable inflatables. For a calmer time kayaks and peddle boats are also available for hire. Kamari also offers unforgettable diving experiences where there is the chance to discover underwater volcanic caves, reefs and the simply stunning marine life.
Dining and Nightlife
A wide range of dining options is offered in Kamari. Beachside restaurants with views across the Aegean Sea offer traditional Greek dishes as well as more contemporary European cuisine in a lively and enjoyable atmosphere. Alternatively head inland to Kamari village for a more traditional Greek dining experience in beautifully quaint tavernas where Greek salads, souvlakis and dolmades can all be washed down by one of Santorini’s own locally produced wines. Kamari is also home to Santorini’s liveliest night spots where a wide variety of bars cater for all with nightclubs available to dance the night away.
Daytime
Boats trips to the Nea Kameni volcano are available from the cable car accessible Port of Skala on the West of Santorini, as are trips to the untamed Isle of Anafi from Kamari. Local buses make Fira, Oia and Perissa accessible with the option to visit Santorini’s own wineries on route. Kamari village abounds with shops selling handcrafts, jewellery, leather goods, art and wines, and a range of Byzantine churches and forts, including the Church of Panaghia Episkopi in the village, may be of interest.
