Pefkos Holidays – Popular beach resort close to Lindos

When to go
If you are visiting Pefkos to enjoy the high temperatures and lively nightlife at the nearby resorts then the May through October summer season will be ideal. This is the busiest time and prices will be slightly higher during this period. Outside of these months sees a much more laid back and quieter Rhodes; the island is still beautifully warm and lower holiday prices are available. Many people do visit Pefkos during the winter months to take advantage of extended sunshine holidays with much reduced prices and plenty of sunshine.
The weather in Pefkos
Rhodes is blessed with 300 sunny days per year, and for Pefkos this means long hot summers with little rain and low humidity levels. The peak summer months between June and September are when daytime temperatures creep up to and over 30C; the evenings will also be warm at 23C. The spring and autumn months also see warm weather with temperatures of around 20C, and swimming is available as early as March and as late as November. Winter will see some rainfall and lower temperatures of 15C, but this is comparable to a warm spring day in the UK.

Airport and transport need to know
Flights to Rhodes Airport (RHO) are available all year round from most UK city airports with a flight time of approximately four hours. May through October is the most popular time and there will be more frequent flights during this period. Transfer to Pefkos from the airport will be approximately one hour. Rhodes Airport provides a bar, restaurant, currency exchange, car hire and metered taxis; taxi fares will be around 100 euros (£80) per car.
You can independently book a shuttlebus online for the transfer, which will come with a fare of around 15 euros (£12) per person. The roads on the island are in good condition and car hire is a good option if you wish to explore Rhodes. Car hire prices start at around 123 euros (£100) per week. There is a frequent bus service from Rhodes Town across the island including Pefkos.
The best beaches in Pefkos
Rhodes is synonymous with beautiful beaches, constant hot weather and sparkling sea waters, making this island a slice of heaven for beach lovers. Pefkos is lapped by the Mediterranean Sea and the crystal clear Mediterranean Sea waters are some of the cleanest in Greece. The beaches on Rhodes consist of pebble, white and golden sands and are mix of lively resort beaches and secluded coves and bays. Many of the beaches around the coast have been awarded the European Blue Flag for cleanliness and water purity and this includes Pefkos beach.
Pefkos beach is an attraction in itself, and this long stretch of fine golden sand backed by pine trees is the place to relax, swim and enjoy watersports. Sun loungers and parasols are available for hire on Pefkos beach and the clean shallow waters are perfectly safe for small children to play in. This beach is popular during the summer months but walk further south and you’ll find some secluded stretches of sand.
You don’t have to travel far from Pefkos to find some beautifully secluded spots that provide an escape from the crowds. If you continue to walk south from Pefkos beach, past the rocks, you will find some isolated stretches of sand just before you reach Lardos. Alternatively, why not hire a boat and spend a day exploring the coastline around Pefkos to find that perfect secluded bay.
A quick trip to Lindos will provide you with some of the best beaches and watersports facilities on the island. Lindos beach is the ideal spot to enjoy cat sailing, jet skiing, snorkelling and wake boarding. St Pauls Bay is incredibly picturesque and one of the most visited bays on the island. The shallow clear waters are ideal for snorkelling and you can hire boats at the bay.
